Berresford Dale (17th April 2016)

Really good walk right through in to Hartington, where we stopped for a pint and ice cream. We bought some local cheese and then went back into the Dale. Well recommended. My brother revisited an old cave that goes straight through the side of the hill, but you have to be aged between 5 and 7 to get through. I remember getting stuck with a load of other kids behind me and I started to panic. I do believe that is where I started to dislike the thought of ‘potholing’. When we arrived today, I poked my head into the exit and immediately felt dread. Our kids were too big to get through even now as it was so tight. We found an old mine (going to have to look it up as it wasn’t on the map) that went very far into the hillside before the water got a little too deep and we had to turn back. A very very interesting find. Main thing is, the kids loved the whole day exploring and walking and talking. Here are some photos of the day.
